Cineworld 2026
==============================================================================================================

On 30th March 2026, 34 Members and guests attended Cineworld for yet another private screening, enjoying our usual round of refreshments before the film commenced at 11.15 am.
The 1949 film Kind Hearts and Coronets, a classic Ealing dark comedy, is considered the primary influence behind this film.
Becket Redfellow, (played by Glen Powell) raised in hardship after his mother is cast out from a wealthy family, grows up believing he must claim the life he deserves. As an adult, setbacks and lingering ties to the affluent Julia draw him toward a ruthless plan: to murder members of the Redfellow family and secure their fortune. He systematically and effortlessly kills his relatives while maintaining a façade of normality, building a relationship with Ruth (played by Mary Qualley and advancing his career.
After eliminating nearly all heirs, Becket confronts and kills his grandfather, becoming sole inheritor—only to be arrested for a murder he did not commit. On the eve of his execution, Julia bargains with him: in exchange for signing over the fortune, she reveals evidence that clears his name. Freed but stripped of his wealth, Becket leaves prison to face an uncertain future shaped by ambition, manipulation, and the consequences of his actions.
Some of our members were a little confused by the ending but I hope this summary explains how he avoided execution which was apparent at the opening sequence.
I am pleased that this was another enjoyable film for everyone to watch.

On a lovely sunny morning 39 Members and guests gathered at Cineworld Brighton to enjoy a hot drink and cake/fruit toast and butter before taking their seats in Screen 6. The 2026 version of Wuthering Heights is a dramatic, romantic period adaptation that re-imagines Emily Brontë’s classic story of love, obsession, and tragedy. Set on the windswept Yorkshire moors in 18th-century England, the film follows the intense and destructive relationship between Catherine “Cathy” Earnshaw (played by Margot Robbie) and Heathcliff (played by Jacob Elordi). Heathcliff, a destitute orphan taken in by Cathy’s father, forms a powerful emotional bond with her that defies class boundaries and social expectations. However, their connection becomes increasingly tumultuous as jealousy, betrayal, and societal pressures tear them apart. The story begins with youthful attraction between Cathy and Heathcliff as they grow up together on the Earnshaw estate. Cathy ultimately marries Edgar Linton for social status and comfort, causing deep anguish in Heathcliff.
Heathcliff’s return after years away reignites their passion and leads to emotional ruin. Unlike the full novel, the film focuses mainly on the first generation and ends with Cathy’s death and Heathcliff mourning her loss, emphasising their tragic, almost mythic bond rather than continuing into the later generational aftermath. Everyone enjoyed the film and the very appropriate background music set the mood of the film.
A very worthwhile watch.

On 26th January 2026, on a wintry morning, 33 members and guests attended Cineworld Brighton Marina to see the above film.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic film and went home thinking “I am so glad I saw this film”. This was one of the best films we have witnessed.
The film told the story of a young couple who met through their love of music and wished to “interpret” the music of the legendary Neil Diamond and formed a tribute band. The lead actors, Hugh Jackman who played Mike Sardina and Kate Hudson (daughter of Goldie Hawn) who played Claire Sardina put in sterling performances and their singing and use of instruments was superb. The called themselves “Thunder and Lightning.” The film told of their love for one another leading to their marriage and the struggles they endured in achieving their goals. This included Claire being involved in an accident outside the family home where she was run over by an out of control motorist resulting in part of her leg being amputated. Mike did all he could to help his wife come to terms with her injuries whilst at the same time trying to keep the family finances on an even keel which he found difficult. In the meantime Claire had to have counselling and therapy to cope with her injuries. After several months they both managed to get their band back together again and share their love of music. Mike also suffered heart problems and just as he was about to meet his idol (Neil Diamond) after a sell out performance he sadly passed away. The funeral took place and Claire sung the beautiful song “I’ve been this way before”, A Neil Diamond classic.
Don’t wait for the film to come out on Sky Cinema, Netflix etc. I highly recommend you see this film whilst on the film circuit at the moment and ENJOY
