Afternoon Tea at

Riverside Cafe, Houghton Bridge

On a scorching hot day, 26 members attended this picturesque spot on the River Arun at Houghton Bridge near Amberley.

With temperatures in the 30's, we were grateful for the large parasols as we sat and were served with a magnificent cream tea by Eve and her colleagues.

Lots of tea and coffee and soft drinks helped cool us down.

Scones, sandwiches, sausage rolls and home made cakes were well presented and in good time to make sure they didn't bake from the heat of the sun!!!

After the tea, members had the option to go on one of their inflatable boats, but for some it was just too hot, so just 11 members went on an hours self drive on the River Arun and below are some photos showing the day.

Just one point of interest, we had to cancel this trip in June on what turned out to be one of the wettest days of the year and this day was the hottest. Oh well, can't win them all.
